PPDI was founded by people from Mandera County who saw a need for collective action — and built an organization governed by the same communities it serves.

Who we are

A non-profit, non-political, community-based organization

Protection, Peace and Development Initiative (PPDI) is dedicated to promoting peace, protection, resilience, and sustainable development among vulnerable and marginalized communities.

PPDI was founded by community members who recognized the need for collective action on the social, economic, environmental, and humanitarian challenges facing Mandera County. Built on transparency, accountability, inclusiveness, and community participation, PPDI empowers local communities to become active agents of change.

Become a PPDI member

Open to anyone 18 or older, of good character and sound mind, who meets PPDI's eligibility criteria. Members take part in decision-making, planning, and the delivery of community initiatives.
